Police forces join hands to curb “dirty food” infiltrated across border

PSNews-On the afternoon of May 15, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting with relevant units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development discussed measures to enhance the consumption of domestic food and agricultural products in an attempt to support domestic farms, rural cooperatives and agricultural produce companies.

Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting. The event also saw the participation of various delegates from relevant ministries and units.

Report by Senior Colonel Nguyen Khac Thuy, Director of the Health Department under the MPS revealed that after a video conference with police units and localities chaired by the MPS leaders to unite in taking measures to promote the consumption of food and agricultural products, including pork, the MPS set up a Steering Committee to take effective measures to support the consumption of food and agricultural products, led by General Bui Van Thanh.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Bui Van Thanh requested that the police units and localities continue to coordinate with relevant forces to prevent "dirty food" from crossing the border and entering  the domestic market as well as detect, control and handle violations of food safety, reducing the risk of spreading epidemics and the risk of "dirty food" returning to the domestic market, and ensuring economic security and social security.

The Steering Committee is asked to regularly update the situation of production, husbandry and consumption of food and agricultural products, especially pork; closely follow the directions and guidance of the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take measures to effectively promote the consumption of food and agricultural products produced by Vietnamese farmers, farms, cooperatives and companies.
