Police forces strictly handle persons fuelling disturbance

The police in the localities in coordination with other relevant forces and local authorities persistently explained the laws to people and pointed out the ill plots of the hostile forces to stabilize the situation while drastically tackling extremists.

Some persons in Long An posted and shared information on social networks, particularly Facebook, calling local people to join an illegal demonstration in Ward 3’s park, Tan An city on June 12.

They incited workers at various industrial zones to go on strikes, sabotaged premises of companies and destroyed assets, causing social disturbances and traffic jams. Their acts seriously affected security and social order, undermining the peaceful life of the people.

The Provincial Police Department of Long An conducted investigations and detected Vo Duy Anh, 26, resident of Tan An city, who had Facebook posts calling people to join illegal demonstrations.

At the local investigation agency, Duy Anh confessed that he posted and shared this information among his friends to get “likes” from the cyber community and become famous. He admitted his acts were wrong, undermining security and order as well as normal life of people.

The police of Tan An city also arrested some extremists, including Nguyen Minh Luan (32, worker of Chin-Lu Textile company), Nguyen Van Hai (34, resident of Binh Tan district, Vinh Long), Nguyen Manh Son (29, worker of Yujin Vina, Long Hau industrial zone, Thu Thua district, Long An)…

Son admitted that he had used his motorcycle and joined his gangs to crash into the gate of his company. He also called on other workers to join violent demonstrations. The arrested also admitted their wrongdoings and promised to never commit such offences again.

After disturbances in Binh Thuan on June 10 and 11, the Provincial Police Department investigated various involved persons to clarify the degrees of their law offences.

As of June 18, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan and Police of Tuy Phong district had investigated and taken testimony of 41 subjects involved in troubles occurred in the area; most of them admitted their wrongdoings and begged the leniency of the law.

Some arrestees also declared that they saw strangers delivering food and water to demonstrators, and incited them to destroy public assets and act against law enforcement officers during the local disturbances in June 10.

The police of Tuy Phong are now accelerating the investigation to  identify the leading trouble-makers as well as urging people to report leading trouble-makers to competent agencies. The local police also mobilized trouble-makers to surrender themselves to the police in order to be pardoned.

Also on June 18, the Security Investigation Agency of Thanh Hoa Police decided to prosecute and arrest Nguyen Van Quang, 31, resident of Hoang Hoa on the charge of spreading his distorted information, in opposition to the State of Socialist Republic of Vietnam in accordance with Clause 1, Article 117 of the Penal Code 2015 (amended and supplemented in 2017).

Earlier, on June 12, Quang had been arrested under an accusation of using his personal Facebook account to post and spread articles provoking people to join illegal demonstrations.
