Police forces to proactive respond to 7th typhoon

The Ministry of Public Security has asked all units and local forces to make all-out effort to prepare for the entering typhoon by ensuring security, order, traffic safety and ready to help local people to overcome the consequences of the 7th typhoon, which is forecast to make landfall in northern Vietnam on October 19.

On October 18, Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security, head of the Steering Committee for Climate Change Respond, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security has signed an Official Dispatch requiring proactive response to the 7th typhoon and sent to Steering Committee provincial fire police forces from Quang Ninh to Khanh Hoa and the other relevant authorities.

All police forces has been urged to be ready in responding when requested. Relevant units to be on duty 24/24h and to inform hourly reports during and after the typhoon to the Permanent office of the Steering Committee for Climate Change Respond, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue.

Ministry of Public Security also asked its units to coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to organize food aid, provide necessities to people and search for missing.

Meanwhile, authorities of Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province have deployed emergency meetings on measures to deal with the 7th typhoon.

According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the 7th typhoon a.k.a typhoon Sarika is the most powerful typhoon for years with unpredictable developments. It will pose a threat of damaging winds and flooding in northern and central Vietnam, when it comes this week.

The typhoon pounded the northern Philippines over the weekend where it made landfall early Sunday morning.
