Police help people overcome flood consequences

Heavy rains and tornados over the past days have caused great damage to Tuy An district (Phu Yen province). Although the natural disasters have gone away, local police officers are still working hard to help locals overcome the consequences.

According to local people, on the morning of November 18, sudden whirlwinds struck the national tourism site of Ganh Da Dia (An Ninh Dong commune, Tuy An district), causing great damages to local people.

Natural disasters made 27 people injured at different levels. Nine of them were taken to the hospital while the remainders were given first aid.

Right after the disaster, Chairman of Tuy An District People's Committee Bui Van Thanh and the local police force went to the scene and coordinated with the local militia force in overcoming the consequences.

In Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, heavy torrential downpours caused by a tropical depression in recent days killed at least 12 people, left 5 missing and injured dozens of others. At Vinh Hoa ward, the flood caused landslides and buried 10 houses while damaging tens of others.

According to Captain Vu Huy Hoang of the South Central Mobile Police Regiment, although the natural disasters have gone away, police officers are still working hard to help locals overcome the consequences. In Vinh Hoa ward, police officers coordinated with the local military force to evacuate hundreds of people and transport their valuable assets to safe places.

Police officers were also restlessly searching for bodies of the unfortunate victims of the natural disasters.

In another area of Nha Trang city, military, militia and police forces are keeping searching for the missing in damaged areas. Meanwhile, relevant agencies continue to move local residents in high-risk areas to safer places and clear off the city’s sewage systems.
