Police in island district successfully fulfill “dual task”

In the face the complicated situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the police on Ly Son island, Quang Ngai, mobilized maximum forces and means to join local efforts in preventing and controlling the pandemic while trying their best to ensure security and order.

As soon as the island district of Ly Son, Quang Ngai recorded the first SARS-CoV-2 community infection case on October 31, the authorities and people of the island joined hands to fight the pandemic.

Mr. Huynh Van Toi, a Party official in Tay An Hai village, said the residents were frightened when hearing of the first infection case, at first. In this context, the local police and authority encouraged and mobilized the people to join the fight against the pandemic.

Colonel Nguyen Thanh Phat, Vice Head of the Ly Son Police Station, said all police officers and soldiers were mobilized to work on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic.

Police coordinated with local authorities to popularize information about the COVID-19 pandemic as well as anti-pandemic regulations.

When the first infection case was detected, local police played the core force in ensuring security and order at the quarantined areas and tracing close contacts. During the recent COVID outbreak, the police force traced more than 100 people with close contacts with the infected.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Duoc, who was in charge of ensuring security at a quarantined area in Tay An Hai village, said the local police stayed alert all the time to ensure that no one in the quarantined area escaped and spread the epidemic in the community. At the same time, the police also prevented unauthorized people from entering the quarantined area.

Additionally, police in Ly Son island district actively advised the local Party Committee, government to take preventive measures against the pandemic and mobilize all forces and people to join efforts in ensuring security and public order on the island during the pandemic.

To ensure public order and security on the island, local police gave information about the pandemic situation while raising local people’s awareness against fake news on social media.
