Police of Quang Ninh and Sainyabuli agree to boost cooperation

A delegation of the Sainyabuli Provincial Public Security Department, Lao PDR, led by Director of the Public Security Department of Sainyabuli Province Major General Kham Pheng Phet, visited with the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Department, from August 21 to 25.

The two sides held the 12th meeting between the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Department of Vietnam and the Sainyabuli Provincial Public Security Department of Laos to review results of bilateral cooperation in 2023.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Kham Pheng Phet suggested that the police forces of the two provinces continue to strengthen the relationship of solidarity, exchange professional information, and popularize the laws of the two countries to local people to improve their awareness of law observance and create favorable conditions for people of the two countries to exchange and trade goods legally.

At the same time, he asked the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Department to assist the Sainyabuli  Provincial Public Security Department in training and building capacity of Lao police officers so as to improve the efficiency of the work of ensuring security and order in the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Dinh Van Noi hoped that the two sides would establish a common information channel to exchange information about criminals, particularly fugitives, ensure security and safety for businesses of one country operating in the other, safeguard border security, resolutely fight all kinds of crime, especially illicit drug trafficking across the border.

At the end of the talks, the two provincial-level police leaders signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in 2023. 

Accordingly, in the coming time, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Department and Sainyabuli Provincial Public Security Department agreed to continue implementinh the annual cooperation plan between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Laos.

The two sides also agreed to proactively grasp the local situation and regularly exchange information on security and order of the two provinces, strengthen coordination in preventing and controlling all kinds of crimes, especially illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking, trade of military weapons and arrest of wanted fugitives.

On this occasion, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police Department presented $5,000, 2 laptops and souvenirs to the Sainyabuli Provincial Public Security Department.
