50 years ago on May 15, 1968, the MPS decided to establish a new professional training facility of the police force, called the People’s Police School, which later developed into various public security academies and schools, including the PPA. Currently, the PPA has over 1,300 officers, including many professors, associate professors, doctors, masters, and people’s teachers. Annually, it trains some 18,000 students of all courses, including 12,000 full-time students at the Academy and 6,000 in-service students at various units and localities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recognized and praised the achievements gained by the PPA in the past time, and asked all officers, lecturers, students and workers of the academy to further strive to build the PPA as a more prestigious domestic and international professional training center.

He also hoped the academy will soon become a standard professional training facility and an intellectual center of the police force and country. The PPA should also be a think-tank for the Party and State, which can generate good initiatives, strategies and policies on the management of social order and national security, including traditional and non-traditional security aspects.
