Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a letter to the Department of Economic Security and the Department of Security Investigation, praising the two departments for dismantling an organized cybercriminal group running the ONUS virtual currency trading system to defraud people of their property on a large scale.

The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:

Over the past time, the Department of Economic Security and the Department of Security Investigation under the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with  other under-ministerial professional departments and provincial police departments, took synchronous measures to investigate and dismantle the large-scale criminal group that ran an internet website to trade a crypto named ONUS to defraud people of their money.

During their investigation, the police found that the suspects had established 52 companies and illegally stole tens of trillions VND from people.

The police have so far summoned for questioning and arrested a total of 142 suspects including masterminds and ringleaders, as well as seized a large volume of documents, data and exhibits related to the case.

According to the Prime Minister, the successful investigation of the case has demonstrated the strong will, competent professional expertise and the excellent capacity of the entire Public Security Forces, particularly the Department of Economic Security and the Department of Security Investigation, in combating high-tech and cyber crimes.

The victory has significantly contributed to upholding the strictness of the law, minimizing financial losses for the people, while deterring criminals and preventing organized and high-tech crimes.

On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated and commended the involved security and police forces for the achievements.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security to worthily reward the units and officers with outstanding achievements in this case.

He also requested strengthening public communication to raise people’s awareness and vigilance against this type of crime.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the Public Security Forces to continue intensifying the fight against all types of crime, ensuring a secure and safe environment for socio-economic development and bringing a peaceful and happy life to the people.

The Prime Minister wished the Department of Economic Security, the Department of Security Investigation and other involved units and agencies more success at work in the coming time.
