Public Security Forces actively enhance COVID-19 prevention and control

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security, on March 10 chaired a teleconference of the Ministry of Public Security on COVID-19 prevention and control.

The meeting also saw the presence of Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Health, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 prevention and control; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Ministry of Public Security's Steering Committee on COVID-19 prevention and control.

According to a report delivered by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son, the COVID-19 situation sees complicated developments. By March 10, the COVID-19 has infected nearly 115,000 people and killed 4,000 people worldwide.

In this the situation, the Ministry of Public Security’s leaders are seeking resolute measures to ensure absolute safety for the entire Public Security Forces.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son suggested the Steering Committees on COVID-19 prevention and control of all public security agencies and units to discuss approaches to effectively prevent the disease, and share experience of localities in successfully detecting, quarantining and treatingCOVID-19 cases in the phase 1.

Furthermore, public security agencies and units should ensure medical equipment and human resources for epidemic prevention and control while grasping the disease situation to early detect and quarantine all people with signs of COVID-19 infection.

Minister To Lam recognized and highly appreciated the efficient leadership of the Party Committees and chain-of-commands of public security agencies and units at all levels in preventing COVID-19 over the past time. The Ministry of Public Security leader also praised the efforts of the People's Public Security Forces in preventing the spread of the disease, contributing to protecting the public health over the past time.

In addition to paying due attention to taking drastic and comprehensive measures against COVID-19, the Minister asked public security agencies and units at all levels to attach importance to fulfilling their assigned tasks, protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety.

Public security agencies and units should effectively implement the Ministry of Public Security’s working plans for 2020 while proactively grasping the security and order situation to advise the Party and the State on guidelines and solutions to respond promptly and effectively to emerging issues in the time to come.

Minister To Lam also suggested that the Ministry of Public Security's Steering Committee on disease prevention and control should try their best to successfully control the COVID-19, and protect lives and health of all public security officers and soldiers and people.
