Public Security Forces review law on criminal verdict execution

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security on Nov. 21 held a conference to review 8 years of implementation of the Law on Special Amnesty and 5 years of implementation of the Law on Criminal Verdict Execution.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo’s member, Minister of Public Security attended the event.

The conference also saw the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep, and representatives of ministries and central agencies.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister To Lam highlighted the great significance of the conference, contributing to raise awareness of the importance of the Criminal Verdict Execution and the Special Amnesty activities.

The conference served as an opportunity for delegates to further study and review the laws and practices so as to submit the Government related proposals, ideas and opinions, based on which the National Assembly (NA) can amend, supplement and perfect the legal system on the Law on Special Amnesty and the Law on Criminal Verdict Execution in line with the 2013 Constitution, he added.

Minister To Lam also urged all delegates to frankly discuss and exchange good practices, experiences and lessons as well as difficulties, limitations and shortcomings so as to find out effective solutions to the problems in an effort to improve the quality of criminal verdict execution work in the coming period and back the Ministry in issuing the Directive on the implementation of criminal verdict execution across the People’s Public Security Force.

At the meeting, delegates canvassed a number of issues and difficulties in implementing the two documents in the reality.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh required all criminal verdict execution and judicial assistance forces to continue reviewing and giving advice to the Government so that the Government will submit them to the National Assembly for amending some inappropriate articles in the Law on Special Amnesty and the Law on Criminal Verdict Execution in accordance to the existing laws.
