Public Security Forces solve 87% of criminal cases in Q1 of 2021

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security held a conference in the form of an online meeting on March 23 to review task performances of the Public Security Forces in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021.

Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired the event. Members of the Public Security Central Party Committee, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, under-ministerial agencies and provincial-level police departments attended the conference.

In Q1 of 2021, despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and socio-economic situation in side the country as well as in the region and the world, the Public Security Forces have effectively implemented their working plans.

While the police forces resolutely attacked crimes and maintain public order and security, the security forces maintained national security and political stability, contributing to the country's socio-economic development and international integration.

Notably, relevant under-ministerial agencies and local police units deployed many drastic campaigns to stamp out crimes. As a result, the rate of criminal offenses decreased by 1.78% while 86.89% of criminal cases were solved, which is higher than that of the same period in 2020. Many serious cases were investigated and solved in a short time and numerous criminal gangs were destroyed over the three past months.

In the first quarter of 2021, the Ministry of Public Security also launched the National Database on Population and the system for producing, issuing, and managing e-ID cards.

To conclude the conference, Minister To Lam hailed the Public Security Forces for their achievements in performing their tasks over the past time.

He asked all public security agencies and units nationwide to proactively grasp the security situation in their localities and promptly advise local authorities to issue guidelines and solutions for arising problems. They were also asked to safeguard activities of the Party’s and State’s leaders, important political, cultural, and social events in the country.

Regarding crime prevention and fight, Minister To Lam noted, police forces should continue to propose solutions to sustainably reduce crime while strengthening measures to reduce criminal offenses by 5% as set out in the working plans.

In terms of the State management over security, Minister To Lam asked the relevant agencies and units to speed up the National Database on Population project and the e-ID card issuance project to meet the target of granting 50 million e-ID cards to citizens by July 2021. He also requested provincial-level police departments to further implement the housing project to support the poor in Thanh Hoa, Dien Bien, Son La, and Lai Chau.
