Hospital 199 offers free health checkups, medicines and gifts to needy people in Hue

PSNews - A voluntary mission of Hospital 199 under the General Department of Logistic and Technique, the Ministry of Public Security, on November 22 and 23, in collaboration with the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Police visited Hong Thuy - a poor commune of A Luoi district, Thua Thien-Hue, and offered free health checkups and medicines to local people. 

Despite heavy rain, the mission still came to 5 hamlets of Hong Thuy commune and  provided free checkups and medicines for needy local households.

According to Mr. Bui Viet Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Thuy commune, the whole commune has nearly 4,000 people with a majority of the Ta Oi, Pa Co and Van Kieu ethnic minorities. They mainly depend on traditional agricultural so they still have many difficulties in life. The commune’s poverty rate mounts to more than 25% of its population.

On knowing that a medical mission would come to the commune to check up their health and give them medicines, he said, the locals were very happy as most people in the commune have a limited access to medical services due to their economic difficulties.

In addition to free healthcare and medicines, the mission also presented 400 packs of gifts with sugar, milk, essentials, 200 sets of warm clothes as well as bactericides, insecticides and antiseptics to mountainous people in Hong Thuy commune.

All the goods and medicines had been donated by leaders, medical workers and soldiers of Hospital 199.
