Public security leader reviews security plans for election day

PSNews - The Security and Order Subcommittee for the election of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils for the 2021-26 term (the Subcommittee) held its 5th meeting on May 21 to check security work on the eve of the election day.

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Subcommittee chaired the event.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General To An Xo, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and Standing Member of the Subcommittee briefed the delegates on results of the Subcommittee’s task implementation since its 4th meeting. Delegates at the meeting then discussed measures to ensure security and order for the election day (May 23).

After ten months of implementing plans and measures, the security and order situation in the whole country has been maintained while all security-related risks and threats have been basically eliminated, contributing to the overall success of the significant political event of the country.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang asked all public security agencies and local police units to raise their sense of responsibility and stay alert against sabotage plots and activities by hostile and reactionary forces.

All the MPS's agencies and local units were asked to maintain stand-by forces and be ready to deal with possible security scenarios during the election day.

They should review their plans and measures to ensure absolute safety and security for the election in all localities across the country, he added. In addition, amidst the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, the public security forces should also pay due attention to controlling immigration in order to prevent the spread of the disease in the community during the election, Deputy Minister Quang noted.
