Public Security Ministries of China and Vietnam beef up coordination

PSNews- The 2nd Conference to review results of the cooperation in pursuing fugitives and preventing crimes between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS)of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China took place in Nanning, China from November 28 to December 3.

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Cong Son, Deputy Director of General Department of Police, included a number of officials of the Police Department on Fugitives, Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Li Zhuqun, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Relations under the MPS of China, appreciated the outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in recent years, hoping that the two Ministries will further promote effective cooperation in tracking down fugitives, and establish a hot line between the two coordination offices.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Lieutenant General Nguyen Cong Son highlighted fine developments and outcomes of cooperation activities between the two ministries in pursuing criminals.

According to the organizing panel, the conference focused on reviewing the outcomes of cooperation in pursuing fugitives and criminals from April 1 to September 30, 2016. In this period, the Vietnamese police succeeded in arresting 20 Chinese fugitives hiding in Vietnam, and the Chinese side managed to capture 9 Vietnamese criminals in China.

The conference has launched the 3rd peak drive to track down fugitives and criminals in 2017 in order to promote exchange of information and share experience in pursuing criminals; to discuss solutions to practical difficulties; to map out orientations and mechanisms to conduct coordination in pursuing fugitives in the spirit of solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding, and in line with the agreements reached by the two ministries.

Participants of the conference also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the summarization of the 2nd peak drive to hunt fugitives and the launch of the 3rd coordination drive.
