The Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri witnessed fierce fights of Vietnamese revolutionary forces to protect the citadel and Quang Tri township in 1972. Thousands of soldiers and people laid down their lives during the 81-day campaign at the citadel and in Quang Tri township in the war against American invaders.

After the incense offering ceremony at the Ancient Citadel of Quang Tri, the delegation visited the historical Hien Luong Bridge across the Ben Hai River, which used to be a line of demarcation between North and South Vietnam on the 17th parallel during the war in Vietnam.

The war has passed for decades but the bridge is still there, serving as a symbol of the everlasting desire of the Vietnamese people for peace, independence and freedom.
