Public security officers and soldiers asked to improve knowledge via reading

PSNnews– A cooperation deal on library work was signed between the Department of Political Work, the Ministry of Public Security and the Library Bureau, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on December 6th in Hanoi. 

The signing of the deal took place at a meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Public Security, with the participation of representatives of the Department of Political Work; the Library Bureau; Public Security Library; and Military Library.

Addressing the meeting, Lieutenant General Le Van De, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics highly valued collaboration initiatives on library work and cooperation programs on promoting reading culture in the public security and military forces.

The official revealed that the Central Public Security Party Committee, leaders of public security agencies and units at all levels have sought to raise the quality of library work in an effort to continuously improve comprehensive knowledge for public security officers and soldiers, over the past 71 years.

At this point, the public security library sector runs 110 libraries, 529 reading halls, 3,027 bookcases and is staffed by nearly 1000 officers and workers.

General De asked officers and soldiers of public security agencies and units to continuously improve their knowledge and expertise via book reading movements to meet the requirements for increasingly demanding tasks of the public security forces in the current context.

According to Ms. Vu Duong Thuy Nga, Head of the Library Bureau, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the cooperation deal is of importance to both sides. Under the cooperation deal, the two sides will collaborate with each other in improving the quality of the management of the public security library network as well as promoting library-based education and training activities among the public security forces in the 2016 - 2021 period.

At the meeting, the Public Security Library and the Military Library also signed an agreement to coordinate with each other in implementing 10 major activities during 2016 - 2020.
