Public security press asked to promote pioneering position

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security on June 20 led a working delegation to visit and congratulate the Public Security Newspaper (PSNews), the Public Security Publishing House and the Public Security Magazine on the occasion of the 93rd Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2018).

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh was accompanied by Major General Nguyen Hai Trung, Vice Director of the General Department of Politics; Major General Hoang Tien Hieu, Vice Chief of the Office of the MPS.

At the meeting, Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security Newspaper briefed the Deputy Minister and his working delegation on its professional activities and task performance of the newspaper in the past time as well as plans for the future.

On behalf of the MPS, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh congratulated leaders, officers and all staff members of the 3 units on the occasion and praised the efforts of the 3 press agencies of the Public Security Forces in the past time.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted some major situational features and developments in the region and the world, which more or less affect press and media activities at present, particularly the globalization process and the 4.0 industrial revolution. 

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh urged the newspaper, magazine and publishing house of the Public Security Forces to strive to fulfill their duties and deserve to be the leading force in the frontline of culture and ideology, in charge of protecting the Party, the State and the interests of the people, and disseminating information helping the people understand the major policies of the Party, the State as well as the Ministry of Public Security, contributing to building clean, strong public security forces.

Regarding challenges facing the press and media, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh noted that the public security press sector in general and the Public Security Newspaper in particular should demonstrate their pioneering role of the revolutionary press in fighting allegations and false information of hostile forces downgrading,  slandering and undermining the internal unity of the Party and the society while preserving the identity of each publication.
