Quang Binh Police forces help local people respond to Tropical Storm Sonca

PSNews-Tropical Storm Sonca (Storm No.4) caused torrential rains at 150mm to 250 mm and even over 250 mm in various places in Quang Binh on July 25.

The coastal waters of Quang Binh province witnessed strong winds at level 8 with 2-4 meter-high waves. The Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee held an emergency meeting of representatives of agencies and localities in the province to deploy all necessary preventive measures in response to storm No. 4, including preventing ships from going to sea; taking measures to protect lives and assets of local people.

As of 4 pm, July 25, Quang Binh called in more than 4,000 vessels for shelter in local docks. In order to avoid damages to boats, fishermen used worn automobile tires to tie up the ships together.

On July 24 and 25, the Quang Binh Provincial Police mobilized 100 % of its forces to be on duty to help local people respond to storm No.4. Various police units and local authorities proactively guided and assisted local people in fastening boats together at docks to avoid damages during the storm.

The province’s police force was determined not to let anyone left on board when the storm hit the locality. The traffic police force was assigned to control traffic in deeply flooded areas, and give traffic guidance so as to ensure safety for people and vehicles.

On July 25th, the Quang Binh Provincial Mobile Police, Order Police and 113 Police forces were deployed to important areas or estuaries to relocate and evacuate people living in areas with high risks of landslides or flash floods.

The Quang Binh provincial police forces also actively prepared sufficient rescue vehicles, boats, canoes, logistics supplies and necessities for rescue operations at request the leaders of the province’s police and local authorities.
