Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Mai Hoang emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand are ASEAN members, who share lots of similarities in culture and have close friendship, comprehensive cooperation and a strategic partnership.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to Thai nationals living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, security and order situation in the city, as well as the city’s crime prevention and combat strategies and measures to counter violence against children and young people.
Mr. Sarawut Karnpanich thanked the host for the welcome and hoped that the cooperation and relationship between the police forces of the two countries will be further consolidated and developed in the coming time, especially in terms of experience exchange in preventing and combating transnational crimes and illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking and illegal immigration.
According to the local police, some 500 Thai nationals live and work in the city. In the first 9 months of 2022, the number of Thai visiting Ho Chi Minh City increased significantly. Statistics showed that over 29,000 Thai people have visited the city over the past 9 months.
