Delivering the opening speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Nam, Deputy Director in charge of the General Department of Politics stated that the implementation of Resolution 4 of the 12th Party Central Committee is a widespread political activity of the whole Party, armed forces, people and entire political system, which serves as a breakthough in the Party building and reorganization work.

As a people's armed force absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, people, the Party and the State, in the current situation, the Public Security Forces should be a pioneer in implementating Resolution 4 of the 12th Party Central Committee on enhancing Party building and reorganization, preventing degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle of Party members, as well as holding back manifestations of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” inside the Party, the senior official said.

Party committees and police units at all levels as well as officers and soldiers should fully aware of causes and signs of the degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle inside the Party, political system and society, he emphasized.

All leaders of units, officers and soldiers should seriously self-criticize and criticize in the Party activities, ensuring democracy and promoting collective mind as well as clearifying responsibilities of leaders.

At the same time, the Public Security Forces should seriously implement Directive No.05 of the Politburo on studying and following the thought, morals and style of President Ho Chi Minh, the movements "For National Security" as well as "Building image of the brave and humane police officer in the people’s heart".

During the discussion sessions under the co-chair of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Nam and Major General Tran Vi Dan, Editor in Chief of the Public Security Magazine, participants enthusiastically discussed, analyzed and assessed emerging issues from the political science historical perspective, with the aim of contributing to defending the rightful policies of the Party, laws of the State, political system, as well as legitimate rights and interests of people.

Earlier, the Public Security Magazine had received over 60 scientific reports from leaders of the Party, the State and experts relating to the theme of this workshop. The magazine also compiled the reports into the workshop’s summary record.

To conclude the workshop, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh said, the workshop provided scientific and practical arguments and experiences in the Party building and reorganization work of the Public Security Forces in the new period. He also highly appreciated theoretical contributions of researchers to the workshop, and hoped to promote coordination with experts in the coming time.

As Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong stated at the 72nd National Public Security Conference in December 2016, the Public Security Forces should function as a "precious sword" in protecting the Party, the State, the political system and the people. The force should actively provide good advice and proposal for the Party and State while ensuring security, social order and safety.

To effectively use outcomes of the workshop, he urged the Public Security Magazine in collaboration with relevant units to make a summary to submit to the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Public Security Ministry.

He suggested publishing good reports at the workshop on newspapers and magazines, to popularize the implementation of Resolution 4 of the 12th Party Central Committee.
