Minister of Public Security General To Lam chaired a conference to review the work results of the security and criminal investigation sectors of the People's Public Security Forces and roll out the two sectors’ work plans for 2023, on the afternoon of January 16, 2023, in Hanoi.

Overview of the conference.

The conference saw the presence of Head of the Security Investigation Authority under the Ministry of Public Security and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, and Head of the Criminal Investigation Authority under the Ministry of Public Security and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, as well as delegates from relevant agencies and units under the Ministry of Public Security.

At the conference, Chief of the Office of the Criminal Investigation Authority Lieutenant General Do Van Hoanh presented a summary report on the results of criminal investigation in 2022 and the force’s tasks in 2023.

Over the years, the Public Security Central Party Committee has directed the two investigation forces to meet the requirements and assigned tasks.

Specially, the criminal investigation force played a pivotal role in preventing and fighting crime while strictly adhering to the principle of "rule of law" and protecting citizens’ rights, legitimate rights and interests of individuals and organizations.

The work of crime prevention, criminal investigation and handling of criminal offences became more efficient, contributing to curbing crime and facilitating socio-economic development of the country. 

Regarding the results of criminal investigation in 2022, the report revealed, the nationwide criminal investigation force cleared 37,550 cases (reaching 84.64 percent), dismantled 633 criminal gangs with 76,605 subjects.

Especially, the criminal investigation force prosecuted and investigated a number of large, serious and complicated corruption and economic cases drawing much attention of the public.

At the conference, the delegates discussed to clarify contents of the report, highlighted the shortcomings and proposed solutions to the remaining issues in criminal investigation.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted the results achieved by the security investigation force nationwide over the past time, emphasizing that all cases infringing upon national security and political security have been thoroughly investigated while the force has also defeated all conspiracies and acts of sabotage by hostile and reactionary forces.

Concluding the conference, Minister To Lam recognized delegates’ opinions and ideas, emphasizing that investigating agencies at all levels need to implement synchronous and drastic working measures to prevent and fight all kinds of crime, closely coordinate with relevant forces inside and outside the Public Security Forces in safeguarding national security and maintaining public order and safety, contributing to gradually building a secure, safe and orderly society.

Minister To Lam suggested that leaders of investigation agencies at all levels increase the application of science and technology and digital transformation to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of investigation.
