Seminar seeks measures to enhance crime prevention at grassroots level

PSNews - The Police General Department of the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper on June 22 organized a seminar on enhancing the role of the leaders of agencies, units and organizations in preventing and fighting crimes at grassroots level.

The event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Dong Dai Loc, Deputy Director of the Police General Department; Mr. Phan Huy Hien, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan Newspaper.

The seminar aimed to study and evaluate the practical situation of the pioneering role and responsibilities of leaders of the State agencies, units and other organizations in preventing and combating crimes at the grassroots level, and to seek good ideas to advise the Party and the State on building and completing mechanisms and policies of the country in the fight against crimes.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Le Van Chuong, Deputy Director of the Police General Department’s Staff Department emphasized that, over the past years, the Party and State has consistently viewed crime prevention and fight as a regular, long-term, critical and urgent mission.

He said that heads of Party committees, organizations, agencies and units should give priority to crime prevention and combat, and that they should concretize the tasks of crime control and punishments for various offenses.

Crime prevention and control must be well implemented from the grassroots level while social preventive approaches must be taken from communities, families and residential areas to deny origins of crimes of all kinds, he added.

Following various policies of the Party and State, Party committees and authorities at all levels have paid due attention to and lead their subordinates to prevent and fight crimes by issuing instructions, resolutions and plans over the past years; as a result, the whole political system and people have been mobilized for crime prevention and fight.

During the seminar, delegates focused on difficulties and challenges in crime prevention and combat, and emphasizes the role of the leaders in curbing crimes at the grassroots level and current situation of crime.

The delegates also frankly pointed out and thoroughly discussed some limitations in the prevention of crime as well as responsibilities of agencies, units and organizations.
