Overview of the meeting.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Ambassador Jaya Ratnam on successfully completing his term of office in Vietnam.

Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted that during Ambassador Jaya Ratnam’s tenure, Singapore had actively cooperated with and supported Vietnam in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two countries also established the Green Economy–Digital Economy Partnership and upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking an important milestone in the history of bilateral ties.

The Minister noted that cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and Singaporean law enforcement agencies has always been a highlight of the overall relationship between the two countries.

Based on the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore on Transnational Crime Prevention and Control, the two sides have maintained effective coordination in information sharing and jointly handled numerous cases through the INTERPOL channel, while also sharing perspectives and supporting each other at multilateral forums on drug prevention and control within the ASEAN framework.

In addition, the two sides have regularly exchanged information on drug-related crimes and coordinated in tracking and arresting fugitives, as well as strengthened cooperation in various areas such as training, fire and rescue and cybersecurity.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that both sides continue to effectively implement the commitments reached by the two countries’ leaders during Party General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Singapore in March 2025 and effectively carry out the Action Program for Implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for 2025–2030 signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries at the 47th ASEAN Summit.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that in his future capacity, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam will continue to make important contributions to promoting bilateral relations, especially in the fields of security and law enforcement cooperation.

Sincerely thanking the MPS of Vietnam and Minister Luong Tam Quang for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam pledged to continue to actively contribute to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Singapore in his future endeavors.
