Six VN students compete at International Mathematical Olympiad 2021

The 62nd version of the International Mathematical Olympiad 2021 got underway on July 19 via an online platform, with the event being held at the University of Science in Hanoi and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese team were made up of six members, including three 12th graders of the High School for the Gifted (University of Natural Sciences), a 12th grader of Ho Chi Minh City’s Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted,  a 12th grader at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, and a 11th grader at Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the competition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, rector of the University of Natural Sciences, emphasised that amid the ongoing complex nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the university has made thorough preparations in terms of facilities, transmission lines, and computers. The university has also strictly implemented pandemic prevention measures aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the competition.

Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh, head of the Vietnamese team, revealed that every member has received a total of 100 virtual training courses, with up to 12 sessions per week.

This year the competition is being hosted by Russia and is due to run on July 19 - 20.
