The delegates at the meeting also rolled out working plans to protect the security and safety for the two important sports events next year.

According to Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang, the 31st SEA Games and the 11th ASEAN Para Games will be held in Hanoi and 10 other provinces and cities from November 21 to December 2021.

These regional sporting events hold great political, cultural, social, diplomatic, and tourist significance as they will contribute to strengthening the friendship and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese people and other ASEAN countries. The events will see the participation of some 30,000 sports officials and athletes from the 11 Southeast Asian countries, he added.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister requested public security agencies and units to mobilize maximum forces and means and take drastic measures to ensure security and absolute safety for the sports events.

Deputy Minister Quang also asked specialized units under the Ministry of Public Security to grasp the situation to proactively detect and prevent sabotage activities by hostile forces, who possibly take advantage of the events to undermine national security and social order. They should also draw out detailed plans to ensure logistical supplies, technical services, traffic order and fire safety during the events.
