For a long time, the district had been seen as a public order and security hotspot. Recently, the district police have taken various measures to prevent and fight against crimes.

Deputy Chief of the Tan Bien District Police Station Colonel Tran Kim Kien said that the number of people illegally entering Vietnam from Cambodia surged recently, which increased the risk of COVID-19 infection for local people.

Against this backdrop, the local police seriously followed the directions of the leadership of the provincial police on one hand; and they actively grasped the local situation on the other hand.

Since the beginning of March, the local police enhanced coordination with other forces to work around the clock at 28 checkpoints set up along the border.

The district police also enhanced patrols in border areas, came to every local household to disseminate information about COVID-19 prevention and mobilize local people to join the national security protection movement, ensure security and order while being aware of pandemic prevention.

The local police force in Tan Bien district built and ran effective “people’s protecting security models, via which local people provided them with useful information about local public order and security.

One of the successful security model is that the local police have mobilized lottery sellers, who travel everywhere in the district and meet many people every day to sell lottery tickets, to report on crime and public order violation.

The police have also provided the lottery ticket sellers with information on tricks of criminals and instructed them to disseminate the knowledge to local people.

Over the past year, with the support of lottery venders, the local police have always grasped the security and order situation in the area. Members of the program provided over 70 pieces of information about crime, supporting the police to investigate gambling and drug-related cases, and ensure security and order in the locality. The security model was applauded by the provincial leaders.

The district police also proposed to install surveillance camera system at traffic accident black-spots. Over 610 million Dong mobilized from the local community has been used to buy and install 110 cameras at 68 places. The camera system has helped the police detect and handle various traffic violations.
