The Hanoi police take the lead in fighting crimes

The Hanoi Municipal Police Department on January 8th held a conference to review its task performance in 2019 and implement its working plan for 2020. General To Lam, Minister of Public Security (MPS) attended and delivered a keynote speech at the meeting.

In 2019, the Hanoi Municipal Police Department spared no effort to ensure national security, social order and safety. As a result, the number of criminal cases reduced 6.6 percent lower than the target set by the MPS  while 85.4 percent of the cases was successfully investigated, and a large number of criminal groups operating in the city were stamped out. In addition, the Hanoi Municipal Police Department was considered the leading unit in managing drug users and addicts.

For these remarkable achievements, the Hanoi Municipal Police Department was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Government.

Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam acknowledged and praised the achievements of the local police forces over the past time.

Regarding the major tasks in 2020, Minister To Lam suggested that the Hanoi police should concertize its working programs and plans to successfully maintain security and absolute safety for key targets and important political events to be held in Hanoi in 2020, especial Party congresses at all levels and those related to the Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020.

The minister also asked heads of all police units in Hanoi to raise their sense of responsibility at work. The chiefs must be responsible for the criminal situation within their managed localities and domains. They will be replaced if they fail to handle the criminal situation for a long time.
