With the message of "Connecting volunteerism - donating blood for love", the festival is expected to connect hearts for good deeds, to create a better life for patients and to raise public awareness of voluntary blood donation.

According to Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in Vietnam and many other countries, blood donation is considered as the most practical voluntary activity to help sick people.

Citing reports of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, he said that the country needs about 400,000 blood units to meet demand for treatment in the first three months of 2018. The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion alone needs about 65,000 - 70,000 units of blood to allocate to 150 hospitals in treating patients.

In addition to the blood donation program, the festival included many activities to attract young people, such as expanding a campaign on protecting future generations from HIV / AIDS, building a culture of traffic safety and supporting dengue fever patients.
