Traffic Police Department deploys its force in preparation for APEC

PSNews – The Department of Traffic Police (under the Ministry of Public Security) organized a ceremony on October 15 to launch a campaign to ensure traffic order and safety during the APEC Summit 2017.

The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the APEC 2017 Security and Order Subcommittee; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Chairman of Da Nang Municipal People’s Committee; Major General Tran Son Ha, Director of Department of Traffic Police and nearly 1,000 traffic officers of the department and the 63 provincial level sub-departments and cities nationwide to ensure traffic safety and order for all APEC events and activities in Da Nang.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam welcomed all the traffic police officers to Da Nang for success of the APEC Vietnam 2017.

He also applauded the Department of Traffic Police for their active cooperation with relevant units under the MPS and Da Nang Police to protect specialized conferences of the APEC Year 2017 as well as other activities of the APEC Summit 2017, held in Da Nang from November 6 to 11.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of the APEC Year 2017, saying that the success of the APEC Year 2017 can promote the country’s international integration and cooperation, and help it succeed in running for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for the term 2020-2021 and playing its role as the Chair of ASEAN in 2020.

“Improving Vietnam’s position in the international arena is considered part of promoting national defense and protecting national security, and preserving social order and safety. As a result, the Public Security Forces will actively coordinate with the defense forces and other forces to ensure absolute safety for the APEC Summit and related events to be held all over the country. In the past time, Public Security agencies and units at all levels have seriously draw up protection plans, deployed their forces and means, equipment; organized training courses, drills and exercises with important results,” stressed Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam.

The traffic police force is responsible for maintaining traffic safety and order, and is especially tasked with guiding international and Vietnamese delegations.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam asked the traffic police and other forces to uphold sense of responsibility, and heighten their vigilance to those who take advantage of this event to undermine the local security and order.

He also directed the Department of Traffic Police to continue to check, update and exchange with the High Command of Guard Police, the High Command of Mobile Police and the General Department of Security to complete the protection plans. The Deputy Minister also asked relevant units under the MPS and Da Nang Police to cooperate closely with the Department of Traffic Police to fulfill the task.
