Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The said that project helps connect localities in the region, facilitates goods transportation to Ho Chi Minh City, and reduces traffic pressure on National Highway 1.

The bridge project cost 5.46 trillion VND (233.46 million USD), including a preferential loan package from the Republic of Korea Government financed by the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and the corresponding capital of the Vietnamese Government. The bridge has a total length of 2.97km and 5.88 km of approach roads, connecting Vinh Thanh district of Can Tho city and Lap Vo district of Dong Thap province.
