Vice President visits Deputy Supreme Patriarch of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of Patronage Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at Thuong Chieu Monastery in Phuoc Thai commune, the southern province of Dong Nai on the occasion of Lord Buddha’s 2563rd birthday.

Thinh said the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Thuong Chieu monastery have actively taken part in social welfare programmes and campaigns and contributed to the country’s development.

She said she expects that the Most Venerable and other Buddhist monks and nuns and followers continue well implementing Party guideline and policies and the State’s laws as well as patriotic movements, joining in realizing the goal of building the country strong with wealthy people, and a fair, democratic and civilized society.

According to representatives from the Thuong Chieu monastery, despite his old age, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu’s mind is still sharp and he constantly kept him updated with the country’s socio-economic activities and gave comments on the affairs of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
