Vietnam actively contributes at 8th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security during the 8th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues has suggested measures to ensure international information security.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, on May 24, 25 led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 8th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Tver region, Russia.

Present at this year's meeting were also high-ranking security officials from 95 countries around the world and representatives from the United Nations.

At the event, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam has suggested measures to ensure international information security with his presentation "The Role of Modern Technology and Solutions for Securing International Information Security".

According to Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, at present as well as in the long run, human beings will still face a series of increasingly serious global problems that can’t be solved by a single nation.

“A close co-operation of the international community is required to fight potential threats of information warfare, to ensure information security and to prevent cyber-crime,” said the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security.

“ In order to improve the effectiveness of prevention and fight against crimes in the area of information security and network security, member nations should actively share information and experience with one another; support each other to build an international information security system; improve countries’ capacity of protecting information and cyber security through cooperation in human resources training and technology transfer; diversify partnerships; and raise overall awareness of cyber security issues though cooperation among countries,” Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam suggested.

On his opening remarks, Secretary of the Russian Federal Security Council Nikolai Patrushev stressed the importance of the international community's collective efforts in addressing security issues.

According to Patrushev, in the era of well-developed information technology, security threats are closely linked so countries should coordinate to deal with these threats.

 The meeting also featured a roundtable seminar on such problems as the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS); international counter-terrorism; struggle against the “color revolution” and others problems that can destabilize states, the current political and military situation in Asia-Pacific, and forecasts on development in the area.
