Vietnam and China promote ties in crime prevention and fight

General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, on September 10 received a delegation of China's National Narcotics Control Commission, led by its Vice Commissioner Zeng Weiziong, who is in Vietnam to attend the ongoing Ministerial Conference on Enhancing the cooperation Effectiveness in Combating Transnational Drug Crime in Hanoi.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam thanked China for supporting Vietnam’s initiative and sending a delegation to the Conference.

Minister To Lam highlighted the good outcomes of cooperation between the two sides in preventing and controlling drug-related crimes, contributing to stabilizing social security and curbing drug-related criminal activities and building a peaceful and friendly borderline.

According to the Vietnamese official, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam has appreciated the efforts of the MPS of China in exchanging information and experience with the Vietnamese side while working with relevant Vietnamese forces closely in investigating, arresting and returning criminals and immediately stamping out drug production hubs along the shared border and drug transportation routes across the border. China’s support has made a very important contribution to the success of drug prevention and control in Vietnam, General To Lam stressed.

Minister To Lam also suggested both countries promote their cooperation in the fight against illicit drug production, trade and transportation across the border of the two counties and in ASEAN region. He also stressed Vietnam’s determination, willingness and commitment to fully implement the agreements between Vietnam and China in crime prevention and fighting.

Mr. Zeng Weiziong thanked Minister To Lam for the reception and appreciated the initiative and good preparation for the Ministerial Conference on enhancing the efficiency of cooperation in combating transnational drug crimes. He expressed his belief that the conference would be of great success and contribute to the fight against drug crimes in the two counties, in the region and the world.

He also highly appreciated the positive results in the coordination in the fight against drugs between the two countries and hoped that the two sides will continue to promote cooperation in this field.
