Vietnam and Indonesia law enforcement agencies promote cooperation

PSNews – The 2nd Security Dialogue between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the Indonesian National Police (INP) hosted by the INP in Jakarta on December 25.

The delegation of the MPS was led by Lieutenant General, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son and the host delegation was led by INP Deputy Chief, General Syafruddin.

The two sides discussed in depth 6 topics during the one-day dialogue. These included reviewing cooperation activities since the first dialogue; cooperation in prevention and fighting against drug-related crimes, human trafficking and piracy, terrorism, cyber-crime and high-tech crime as well as other topics of mutual concern.

The two sides also agreed on the existing cooperation mechanism and the schedule for the next dialogue which is expected to be organized in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son also took the opportunity to meet with National Police Chief of Indonesia General Tito Karnavian.

The INP Chief highly appreciated the importance of the 2nd Security Dialogue between the MPS of Vietnam and the INP. He also exchanged his views on the current criminal situation and their activities in Indonesia.

Indonesia is home to many different ethnic groups and religions. As a result, racial clashes, terrorist activities and drug-related crimes are growing and become more complicated.

The INP Chief expressed his wish that the cooperation between the INP and MPS would continue to be strengthened and developed, especially in prevention and fighting against transnational crime, training and capacity building for law enforcement officers of the two countries.

Deputy Minister Son also thanked the INP for the kind reception and extended best regards of Minister of Public Security To Lam to the INP Chief.

He also briefed the INP Chief on the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the INP as well as the results of the second Security Dialogue between the two sides.

The Deputy Minister believed that, in the coming time, the cooperation between the two sides in the field of crime prevention and fighting and national security would achieve more successes, contributing to deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Son and the MPS delegation also visited Embassy in the country and had a meeting with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Hoang Tuan Anh and other diplomats and workers of the Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia.
