The Vietnam Police Department of Fire Prevention- Fighting and Rescue delivered reports on the general situation of fire prevention and fighting in the country as well as residential fire incidents. In particular, the situation of residential fire has seen complicated developments.

In 2017, 2,037 fire incidents occurred in private houses, accounting for 50.5% of the total number of fires. Remarkably, the number of fire incidents in premises with combined residential and commercial functions is on the rise. Against this backdrop, Vietnam should seek approaches to curb the number of fire incidents and fire-related losses.

At the working session, the two sides exchanged facts and experiences in fire prevention and fighting and rescue, as well as measures to detect and report fire incidents, and cooperation on the equipment of firefighting, escape, evacuation and rescue tools and devices, including respirators, rescue belts and demolition machinery.

The Fire Police of Vietnam also asked the Japan’s agency for further supports for fire prevention and fighting as well as rescue missions in Vietnam.
