Vietnam and Russia, Belarus strengthen cooperation on security

Politburo member and Minister General To Lam, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, visited the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, from November 21 to 24.

Within the framework of the visit in Russia at the invitation of Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation General Patrushev Nikolai Platonovich on November 21-23, Minister To Lam met and had talks with leaders of security and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation.

At the meetings, the two sides exchanged and assessed the security situation in the region and the world, and discussed issues of mutual concern in order to build new cooperation mechanisms regarding national security, such as coordination in ensuring safety and security for senior leaders of the two countries on their visits to the other country, fighting terrorism, transnational organized crime, maintaining network and cyber security.

* During the visit to Belarus at the invitation of Secretary of the National Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Volfovich Aleksandr Grigorievich on November 23-24, Minister To Lam held talks with the Secretary of the National Security Council, Chairman of the National Security Committee and Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

At the meetings, Minister To Lam and leaders of security and law enforcement agencies of Belarus agreed that the cooperation between the two sides continued developing in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in a complicated security situation in recent years.

The two sides focused cooperation in the areas of information exchange, sharing of working experience, personnel training, and crime prevention and fight.

Minister To Lam expressed his delight at the achievements of Belarus in promoting socio-economic development, maintaining political stability, and improving the people's living standards in recent years, and believed that that Belarus will continue to develop strongly in all aspects.

The Vietnamese official highly valued the cooperation in politics, economy, culture, society, security and defense between Vietnam and Belarus.

* Within the framework of his trips to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, Minister To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security visited the Vietnamese embassies in Russia and Belarus, meeting with the staff of the embassies and representatives of the Vietnamese communities in Russia and Belarus.
