The event was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang and Permanent Under-Secretary of State at the Home Office of the UK Matthew Rycroft.
Over the years, the cooperation between Vietnam and the UK has continuously developed in many fields such as trade, investment, education, culture and security and defense. The UK is currently an important and reliable strategic partner of Vietnam.
In the field of security, leaders of the two sides regularly hold talks and exchange high-level delegations to share experiences and strengthen cooperation in the prevention and control of transnational crimes, including crime on migration and human trafficking, making an important contribution to promoting the cooperation relationship between the two nations in general, and between the Vietnamese MPS and the Home Office of the UK in particular.
Addressing the opening of the Dialogue, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated the close and effective cooperation of the UK authorities and the UK Embassy in Vietnam over the past time, saying that the UK side has implemented many cooperation activities to share experiences, support Vietnam's migration authorities, promote cooperation in the field of migration within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two Governments.
Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that this dialogue will open many opportunities for the two sides to promote cooperation on migration and solve difficulties and challenges in the new situation.
At the dialogue, the two sides exchanged, discussed and agreed on communication issues on migration as well as safe and legal migration, issues related to repatriation, new policies on entry and exit, prevention and combat of human trafficking.
Delegates also proposed solutions to preventing illegal migration, encouraging safe and legal entry and exit, through communication activities. The two sides also agreed to maintain and improve the effectiveness of the bilateral cooperation in repatriation of citizens.
