Delegates of the two sides attend the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed that both Vietnam and Austria are parties to many multilateral international treaties on crime prevention and control, such as "United Nations Convention against Corruption", "Convention on Combating Transnational Organized Crime", "Convention against Illicit Trafficking in Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances".

The police forces of the two countries are also members of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), but due to the geographical distance and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the coordination and cooperation in crime prevention and control between the two sides has been still limited, seen a little via the cooperation mechanism of INTERPOL.

Both sides expressed their wish that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria would expand cooperation in the fields of security and social order and safety, boost negotiation to sign a cooperation agreement on crime control between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria, an extradition agreement and agreement on transfer of convicted persons so as to create a legal corridor for the two sides to strengthen cooperation in security and other fields of mutual interest.

The two sides also agreed to enhance exchange of experience in law enforcement practices, sharing of criminal information, coordination in investigating criminal cases related to citizens of the two countries, especially those related to transnational crime, illicit drug trafficking, terrorism, high-tech crime while expanding cooperation in the field of training professional qualifications and foreign languages for law enforcement officers.
