Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Monument inaugurated in Kep city

PSNews - Cambodia held a ceremony on October 20 to inaugurate the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument in Kep City, a peaceful seaside town in Kep province.

This has been the 11th friendship monument built in the country, following the agreement reached by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Saman, who is also Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, and President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association; the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh, Consul General to Kep Nguyen The Cuong as well as a large number of Cambodian officials and people.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Men Saman expressed her delight and honor at chairing the event, and affirmed that the construction of the friendship monument aims to commemorate and pay tribute to the great sacrifices of Cambodians and Vietnamese volunteers who had laid down their lives for Cambodia’s liberation.

She also highlighted that the monument is considered as an everlasting symbol of the time honoured solidarity and friendship between the two countries’ armies and people.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung, Military Attaché to Cambodia, reiterated the two countries’ leaders agreed to repair and build more friendship monuments across Cambodia to demonstrate the traditional friendship  between the two peoples and military forces.
