Vietnam - China joint anti-terrorism drill successfully ends

A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS), led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Ngoc Lam, had a working trip to China and attended the closing ceremony of the joint anti-terrorism exercise between Vietnam’s MPS and the Chinese People's Armed Police, from August 1st to August 3rd, in Nanning city of Guangxi province.

At the closing ceremony, on behalf of the Vietnam’s MPS, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam sincerely thanked Alternate Member of the Chinese Party Central Committee and Chief of Staff of the Chinese People's Armed Police Zhou Jianguo and other leaders of the Chinese People's Armed Police for providing support and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese police officers attending the joint exercise to exchange practical experience with Chinese peers in the fight against crime, especially terrorism.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam affirmed that the joint exercise was of great significance as it marked an important milestone in the cooperation between the Chinese People's Armed Police and the Special Task Force of Vietnam’s MPS.

To tighten the ties between Vietnam’s MPS and the Chinese People's Armed Police in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam suggested that the two sides should further enhance delegation exchange at all levels and other joint activities, as well as consider negotiating and signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in the fields of mutual interest so as to create a legal framework to expand specific cooperation activities.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister also wished the Chinese People's Armed Police to organized training courses to build law enforcement capacity of the Vietnamese police in general, the MPS Special Task Force in particular.

Within the framework of the working trip in Nanning city, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam had a meeting with Vice Chairman cum Director of Public Security Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Yang Weilin, visited the Training Center of the Guangxi Headquarters and attended a special art program celebrating the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and the joint exercise between Vietnam’ MPS and he Chinese People's Armed Police.

* On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam and MPS’s delegation also visited the Consulate General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
