Vietnam, Japan strengthen cooperation in security and law enforcement

A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, attended the 8th Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan from May 26th to May 31st, in Tokyo, Japan. This year, the dialogue is hosted by the National Police Agency of Japan on a rotational basis.

The two sides also  exchanged views on the current regional and global situations affecting the relationship between Vietnam and Japan. 

At the end of the dialogue, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation activities on the basis of mutual trust to bring the relationship between the two agencies to a new higher level.   

* On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung paid a courtesy visit to Commissioner General of the National Police Agency of Japan Tsuyuki Yasuhiro.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated positive achievements in the cooperation between the two countries in general, and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan in particular.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that the Japanese side continue exchanging delegations at all levels, ensure absolute safety and security for one country’s top leaders visiting the other as well as protect legitimate rights and interests of one country’s citizens living, working, studying or travelling in the other country.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung also wished that the Japanese partner would early draft the third phase of the project to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to ensure cybersecurity and counter cybercrime, as well as offer additional aid of modern technology and equipment for the fight against transnational crime to Vietnamese police forces.  

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung and Commissioner General Tsuyuki Yasuhiro exchanged a Memorandum of Cooperation on countering transnational crime between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung had meetings with leaders of the Imperial Guard Headquarters and the Yamanashi Prefectural Police Headquarters. 

* Within the framework of the working trip, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung and the delegation also visited the Vietnam Embassy in Japan.
