Vietnam, Kazakhstan promote cooperation on crime prevention

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam. Minister of Public Security, received the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakip Asanov and his entourage on June 15.

Welcoming Mr. Zhakip Assanov and the delegation, Minister To Lam stressed that, over the past 25 years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan has been constantly strengthened and developed on various fields including politics, diplomacy, economy, trade and culture.

The two sides often closely work together and support each other at international forums, including multilateral summits.

Particularly, the outcomes of the meeting between the Prime Minister of Vietnam and the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Alliance in Kazakhstan in 2015 demonstrated the political determination of the two countries' leaders.

Based on the solid political relations, Minister To Lam stated that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam would like to expand cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Bureau of Kazakhstan on various areas, particularly exchange of high-ranking delegations, experience sharing in crime prevention, cyber security protection, personnel training.

Senior Lieutenant General To Lam added that the Vietnamese Government pursues a policy to promote negotiation and signing of deals with other countries on suspect extradition, and that the Ministry of Public Security is in charge of the affair.

The issue can contribute to promoting and improving the legal basis of bilateral cooperation between the two countries on crime prevention, which will in turn strengthen the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.

At the same time, such a deal also reflects the responsibility and the humane policies of the two States toward their citizens abroad. 

Minister To Lam hoped that the two sides would quickly finish necessary procedures, so that an agreement on criminal extradition will put the deal into effect soon after the signing.

Mr. Zhakip Assanov sincerely thanked Mr. To Lam in particular and the Ministry of Public Security in general for the warm reception. He also highly appreciated the closely cooperation between the two countries.

He reconfirmed that the Kazakhstani side wants to continuously expand cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to foster national security, social order and safety as well as interests of each nation.

After the reception, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam To Lam and the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakip Asanov signed an agreement on extradition.
