Vietnam, Myanmar strengthen cooperation in security and crime prevention

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security on January 8 received a delegation of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar led by Zaw Khin Aung, Police Commander of Shan state.

Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam affirmed that the comprehensive cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar had been increasingly strengthened. 

Vietnam highly appreciated the achievements of the Government and people of Myanmar in the national reconciliation process, the socio-economic development and the expansion of foreign relations in recent years. At the same time, General Nam also believed that Myanmar will achieve further sustainable and stable development in the coming time under the leadership of the new Government.

General Nam expressed delight at good results of the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of Myanmar over the past years.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam underscored that the working visit of Commander Zaw Khin Aung and the delegation of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar to Vietnam contributed to deepening the relationship between the two countries in general and expanding bilateral cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and the MHA of Myanmar in particular.

He suggested, the two sides should continuously promote cooperation between and the two sides’ local police units in the field of personnel training, delegation exchange, sharing of experience in preventing and fighting crimes, especially drug crime, in the coming time.

For his part, Commander Zaw Khin Aung thanked Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam for the reception while highly valuating the reliable and good political relations between the two countries, the effective cooperation and mutual supports between the two ministries, contributing to protecting national interests and security of each nation.

Mr. Zaw Khin Aung affirmed that, in his position, he will strive to bring the friendly relations between the two countries and the two ministries to a new high level.
