Vietnam, Netherlands boost cooperation in crime prevention

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security received Ms. Nienke Trooster, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam on the afternoon of January 9, in Hanoi. 

At the reception, Minister To Lam expressed delight at the various positive developments in the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Netherlands. 

He stressed, that Prime Minister Mark Rutte continues to rule the country for the third term will facilitate the bilateral relations, especially when the Dutch Government is planning to give high priority to policies on agriculture, environment, sustainable development, energy transition and climate change.

Recently, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement of the Netherlands has continuously developed widely and deeply in all aspects, contributing to maintaining national security, social order, safety and promoting international integration of each country. Moreover, the two sides effectively deployed the joint program on the implementation of the United Nations' Convention against torture in the period 2015-2017.

General Lam hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to jointly implement the United Nations' Convention against torture in the period 2018-2020, and study and sign agreements on crime prevention, judicial assistance, thereby creating a legal framework for cooperation in fighting transnational crimes between the two countries.

Additionally, Vietnam and the Netherlands should increase delegation exchanges at all levels; share experience in prevention and fight against transnational crimes via the bilateral channel and cooperation mechanisms of Interpol, and organize training courses to improve two sides’ officers’ abilities of cyber security.

For her part, Ms. Nienke Trooster highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of the cooperation between the two sides, and congratulated the positive outcomes of the Ministry of Public Security over the past time.

She stated that as the Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, she will try her best to foster bilateral relations between the two countries and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement agencies of the Netherlands in the coming time for the benefits of the two peoples and the two countries.
