Vietnam ready to share with Ethiopia experience in cybersecurity

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc had a meeting on the afternoon of July 6 with the delegation of the Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency led by Deputy Director Solomon Soka during its visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to maintaining the traditional friendship and promoting multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia. He said that Vietnam always follows the process of construction and development of Ethiopia and congratulated the country on the impressive achievements in recent years.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc applauded a delegation of an Ethiopian law enforcement agency’s first-ever visit to Vietnam, saying that it made the beginning of the development of cooperative relations between the two sides.

Regarding the bilateral cooperation in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc said that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is willing to share with Ethiopia its experience in building and operating a population registration and management system and issuing citizens’ chip-based ID cards as well as electronic passports through exchange of delegations and joint capacity building courses in this field.

The Vietnamese official assured that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is ready to send experienced experts to assist Ethiopia in opening short-term training courses to improve its personnel’s qualifications in cybersecurity and information security.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the two sides study the possibility of negotiating and signing cooperation deals on population management, crime prevention and control and other fields of mutual interest, and continue to support each other at international and regional forums.

He asked the Ethiopian side to support Vietnam to become an observer of the African Union (AU). and coordinate in protecting the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises and citizens of one country in the other.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc expressed his belief that this visit of the delegation of the Ethiopian Information Network Security Agency will be a positive force to promote cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Ethiopia's law enforcement agencies, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Ethiopia and good sentiment of the two peoples.

Sincerely thank Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc for his reception, Mr. Solomon Soka affirmed that he will always support and act as a bridge to expand the cooperation between the security and law enforcement agencies of Ethiopia and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for national security, prosperity of each country and for the benefits of the two peoples.
