Vietnam, Russia seek to strengthen cooperation in managing emergencies

PSNews - At the invitation of the Russian partner, a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, had a working trip to Russia and attended the 15th International Safety and Security Exhibition, from May 28th to June 4th, 2024.

Within the framework of the working trip, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen had a meeting with Russian Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Colonel General Suprunovsky Anatoly Mikhailovich.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen expressed delight at positive achievements in implementing the agreements reached by the two sides during the visit to Vietnam of the high-ranking delegation of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations last November. 

Notably, training institutions under the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have trained 130 Vietnamese police officers and cadets over the past time. Most of the Vietnamse students achieved good training results, while some have been listed on the school's honor roll.

 Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen highlighted that the Russian partner had effectively supported the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in building capacity of Vietnamese police officers, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of the work of fire prevention and rescue in Vietnam.

To further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two ministries, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations promote delegation exchange at all levels, share working experience, and provide technical support and Russia-made equipment for the Vietnamese side to develop a National Command Information Center in charge of giving early warnings of fire and natural disasters.

 Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also wished that the Russian partners would introduce modern firefighting and rescue equipment and machinery to the Vietnamse side, transfer new technologies and associate with Vietnamese partners to manufacture Russian firefighting and rescue equipment and machinery while further supporting the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in building capacity of fire and rescue police officers, focusing on practising specific complex scenarios requiring high expertise.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also took the chance to invite Deputy Minister Anatoly Mikhailovich to visit Vietnam in the coming time, and his counterpart happily accepted the invitation.
