Vietnam-Singapore sign letter of agreement on fire fighting and rescue

PSNews-Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Mr. Lep Yip, Permanent Secretary of Singapore's Ministry of Home Affairs, witnessed the signing of a Letter of Agreement between the Police Department for Fire Fighting and Rescue of Vietnam and the Civil Defence Force of Singapore. 

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security led a high level delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to Singapore to attend the 9th annual bilateral ministerial meeting and the 4th Sporting Event between the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore from November 30 to December 2 at the invitation of Mr. Leo Yip.

The two sides reviewed the results of cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Home Affairs of Singapore in 2016 in various areas, including high-level meetings, exchange of delegations; cooperation in prevention and suppression of transnational crime, especially drug-related crime, high-tech crime; capacity building for law enforcement officers of the two ministries.

Heads of the two delegation recognized the good results achieved and agreed on a number of orientations for cooperation between the two parties in the coming time, including maintaining mechanisms to exchange high-level bilateral delegations, to hold meetings between leaders of the two sides, to share information and experiences in the fight against crime, and promote personnel training cooperation,so as to facilitate the implementation of cooperation between the two ministries in all areas.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong and Mr. Lep Yip witnessed the signing of the Letter of Agreement between the Police Department for Fire Fighting and Rescue of Vietnam and the Civil Defence Force of Singapore.

After the talks, the Vietnamese Vice Minister had a courtesy meeting with Mr. K. Shanmugam, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Law of Singapore. Mr. Vuong briefed the results of the bilateral meeting between the two deputy ministers.The Vietnamese official expressed his desire to welcome Mr. K. Shanmugam to Vietnam and work with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in the coming time.

The delegations of the two sides joined a sporting event, including golf, shooting and football at the Academy of Home Affairs of Singapore. The sporting events took place in the atmosphere of openness and friendship, contributing to promoting cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
