Vietnam, Slovakia agree to boost cooperation on social security and order

After the reception, Minister To Lam headed a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to have talks with the Slovakia’s delegation.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security also attended the talks.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Lam warmly welcomed the visiting Deputy Prime Minister and the high-level delegation of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Slovakia to Vietnam. He also sincerely thanked Mr. Robert Kalinak and the Slovak colleagues for their kind reception when a delegation of the MPS visited Slovakia from March 4 to 6.

Minister To Lam said that Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the agreement between the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Slovakia on measures to deal with organized and transnational crime, terrorism, drug-related crime, human trafficking and cyber crime as well as approaches to regularly exchange delegations at all levels to share information and experience, and to promote coordination in investigating, fighting and hunting criminals who are citizens of the two countries.

Minister Lam repeated PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s request, saying that the Vietnamese PM asked the MPS to implement effectively the “Agreement between the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Slovakia on cooperation in the prevention and fight against crime”; promptly draft an agreement on criminal extradition, and an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons for negotiation and signing, creating a synchronous and comprehensive legal corridor for cooperation activities between the two countries.

To promote co-operation between the two Ministries on a par with the political relations between the two countries and their potentials, the MPS requested both sides to maintain the exchanges of high-ranking delegations and experts, swiftly exchange information and share experiences in the fight against crimes; cooperate with each other in struggling against special cases, investigating, verifying and hunting wanted criminals hiding in Slovakia and Vietnam.

Minister Lam also proposed the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak to train Vietnamese public security officials in Slovakia. Vietnam’s MPS is ready to provide Vietnamese language training courses to Slovakian officials of the Interior Ministry.

The Slovakia’s Minister of Interior thanked the MPS of Vietnam and Minster Lam for the good sentiment and kind reception. Mr. Rober Kalimak also hailed the fine political relations between the two nations, close and constant collaboration and mutual supports of both Ministries on the international stage, contributing to protecting each country’s interests and national security.

Mr. Robert Kalinak wished the cooperation relationship between the two sides would continue to develop in the coming time and achieve practical results in the fields of cooperation, contributing to maintaining social order and safety, ensuring national security of the two countries.

In the afternoon of the same day, Minster To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Slovakia’s Ministry of Interior visited the Security Industrial Zone under the General Department of Logistics and Techniques (G.D 5), the Ministry of Public Security.

Minister To Lam and Mr. Robert Kalinak were briefed by Leaders of the G.D 5 of Vietnam's Security Industry on the industrial park and its products.
