Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General To Lam received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Vietnam A.Saj U. Mendis, on the afternoon of June 23, 2023, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam underlined several notable achievements in the cooperation between Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Sri Lankan partners, especially in sharing information and experience in law enforcement, fight against transnational crimes and terrorism as well as enhancing mutual legal assistance and high-level delegation exchanges.

Overview of the meeting. 

To deepen the Vietnam – Sri Lanka relationship, Minister To Lam suggested that the two sides coordinate, consult and support each other at multilateral forums, regional and international organizations on security and police issues such as the United Nations, INTERPOL and other institutions within the Indo-Pacific region; enhance criminal information exchanging between the two countries’ INTERPOL offices; promote information exchange on crimes; ensure security and safety of the Vietnamese diplomatic missions as well as Vietnamese people in Sri Lanka; enhance exchange of security, police and other law enforcement delegations.

Expressing his sincerely thanks to Minister To Lam for the meeting, Ambassador A.Saj U. Mendis highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese people in general, the Vietnamese Public Security Forces in particular over the past years. Ambassador A.Saj U. Mendis emphasized that Sri Lankan law enforcement agencies attach great importance to their cooperation with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, and are willing to cooperate with the Vietnamese side in all fields of mutual concern, especially in preventing and combating crimes as well as ensuring national security and social order.

As Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, Ambassador A.Saj U. Mendis affirmed that he will strive his best to promote the traditional friendship between Sri Lanka and Vietnam to a new high level, contributing to the development of the two countries and the interests of the two people.
