Vietnam-US economic, trade and investment relations thriving: USABC President Ted Osius

Minister of Public Security General To Lam hosted a meeting with a high-ranking business delegation of the United States-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by President and General Director of USABC Ted Osius, on the afternoon of March 22, 2023, in Hanoi. The USABC delegation is on its working visit to Vietnam.

Minister To Lam thanked USABC and US businesses for their practical and positive contributions to promoting trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries, as well as to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and the US. 

The host also highly appreciated the results of the two recent meetings with the USABC aerospace, defense and security business delegation in December 2022, saying that the meetings opened up opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in aerospace, defense and security.

In order to tap the potential of cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested that USABC and the US business community continue to act as an important bridge between the governments and business communities of the two countries to strengthening the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the United States while increasing US investment in the Vietnamese market, especially when the current shifting of supply chains in the sectors of energy, infrastructure, finance and banking is important to both Vietnam and the US.

Regarding the plan to build flight infrastructure and training facilities for the People's Public Security Air Regiment, Minister To Lam suggested early drawing up a specific schedule for the two sides to negotiate and sign a contract on air traffic, transfer of technology, products and services, including personnel training in flying, as well as in operating, repairing and maintaining equipment.

On behalf of the USABC senior business delegation, USABC President Ted Osius would like to thank Minister To Lam for the warm welcome and useful meeting, and emphasized that bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment, have achieved great achievements while a number of large US companies are investing and doing business in Vietnam.
